The county has 298.03 square miles of land and 47.10 square miles of water for a total of 345.13 square miles. The average January temperature is 61.6 degrees fahrenheit, and the average August temperature is 82.1 degrees fahrenheit. The average annual rainfall is 50.51 inches.
History. Seminole County was established from Orange County in 1913 and named for the Seminole Indians. The word Seminole is thought to be derived from the Spanish cimarron, meaning "wild" or "runaway."
